Day two in Singapore began early, and luckily, I was feeling a lot better than the day before. We ate some breakfast at the hotel restaurant before preparing to head out. We decided to visit the Singapore Zoo that day. To get there, we had to get on a two-hour bus ride from the area we were staying at. There are numerous ways to get to the zoo depending on where you are coming from, and it can be easily searched on the zoo’s website which is highly convenient.
When we got to the zoo, there were so many sights and activities to witness and participate in that we didn’t know where to start. We decided to begin with watching the different animals that were there. The Singapore Zoo is divided into 11 zones that replicate the diverse habitats that the animals belong to around the world. It truly is a haven for wondrous wildlife, being home to over 2,800 animals from 300 different species. As we strolled around the various zones, there were numerous opportunities for encounters with the animals, and as animal lovers, that truly fascinated us. We got the chance to feed the adorable elephants which was so heart-warming and so much fun.

Other exciting features at the zoo were the myriad of animal shows one could watch, from sea lions at the Splash Safari, domesticated companions at Animal Friends, to stunning display of lights, sounds, and spectacle at Rainforest Lumina. We watched the famous bird show and learned about the different species of birds that inhabited the place. We ate lunch and snacks there, which was quite convenient since there were a lot of dining choices to choose from. While enjoying our time at the zoo, we unfortunately broke one of the phones we had, it wasn’t technically ours, and it remained secret until now, but that left us to use only one phone from then on. We were having mixed emotions about the incident, but we didn’t want it to ruin the trip so we forgot about it at the time.
After our fun time at the zoo, we went back to the hotel to freshen up before heading out again for dinner. We ate at Shuang Shun Chicken Rice, which was part of the Singapore Michelin Star, and tasted amazing. Singapore Michelin Star is a list of restaurants that are lauded for their culinary excellence, which make for great references especially for tourists. After enjoying our meal, we strolled around while trying to find a place to have our broken phone fixed, and funnily enough, ended up at the Red Light District unknowingly. Luckily, Singapore is known to be a techy hub, so we easily found a cheap place to have the broken phone fixed. It cost us 50% less than the price that it would've cost us if we had it fixed in the Philippines. The only problem is they didn't accept card payments, so we had to find an ATM machine to withdraw cash. We found one, but only then did we discover that my card wasn't set internationally, leaving us no choice but to leave the phone at the shop overnight (Tip: always set your cards for international travel before getting on that plane lol). Luckily, my companion's brother was connected with my bank in Cebu, so by morning, he had my card set internationally, and we were able to just pick the phone up at the shop the following day.
The second day was enjoyable, even though it didn’t go without the little setback we had. Even so, it was such a relief that I physically felt so much better because it allowed me to really enjoy everything we did.
This ends the second part of my Singapore blog. Check back next week for the continuation, the last part.
